Flat Bottom Boogie at Kings River RV Resort
Coming July 2020 – dates TBD
The Flat Bottom Boogie began as a Boat Show at Kings River RV Resort (formerly known as Club Royal Oak), 3 miles east of Hwy 99 off Exit 112. Our property’s river-front sites became a fantastic viewing opportunity and in 2012, Tulare County began allowing time trials to be run directly in front of the resort. The event is now nationally recognized and attracts some of the most famous boats from the 70s & 80s along with the top drivers and boats of today.
This year’s event is once again sponsored by Speedboat Magazine, will be live-streamed online and be covered by KMPH Fox 26. Prime ticket holders with have reserved. Awards will be presented at 6:00pm to winners in 7 categories including ‘Best of Show’ and ‘Best Time’ in the 1/8th mile sprint.
The Time Trials begin at 11:30 a.m. and end at 2:30 p.m. They will be preceded by the singing of our national anthem while ‘Old Glory’ is paraded in front of the crowd on board a flat bottom boat. Watch for fly-bys, the U.S. Navy from the Lemoore Air Station have been known to make an aerial appearance. Always remain vigilant, staying behind the safety-line, and “keep your eyes on the boogie boats”! The boat show runs from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The day is capped off with a performance from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. by Jeremy “Elvis” Pearce, one of the Top 10 of his craft in the world, along with his band, “The Memphis Sons.”
Parking is on both sides of the driveway leading to Kings River RV Resort from Road 28. Ticket holders will have to walk a short distance to the security checkpoint to enter the venue. The gates will open at 9:00 a.m.
Outside food or drink will not be allowed in the venue. Visitors can view the many boats already on display, purchase food and drink from our vendors, buy shirts and hats, meet some of the drivers and even talk with them about their magnificent beasts!
